How to Use the Internet to Promote The Band

Check if your band's name is already used in a domain. If it's free, you'll need to register it, and you can search the internet for how to buy a domain name. Otherwise, you'll have to have some variation of your band's name.

Now that you have a domain registered, you'll need to find a host for your website and some other things. You can sign up with a free host, or use paid hosting for a very reasonable fee.

Set up an account on YouTube to make videos. Make your account name the same as or similar to your band name.

Most hosts have website templates, so pick one of the templates, and start adding information about your band. Add pictures, and what kind of music you play, so add a small sound sample (about 1 minute is good). Fade in and out of the sound sample to sound a little more professional. If you have a video, Upload it to YouTube and embed the video in your website.

Your band's website should link to the members' blogs, and the blogs should link to the website, so that people can find them and read them. This is an important step, so don't forget it! Also the band members' blogs should link to each other.

It's also a good idea to set up a forum. This way your fans can interact with you and feel more involved.

Spend a some time each day commenting on each other's blogs, uploading videos or sound samples, and interacting on your band's forum.

Each member of your band should have their own personal pages on Myspace, Facebook, and other social networking sites. Some will allow a page for your band as well; others allow only individual pages. Again, these pages should have links pointing to your site, band members' blogs, and you should connect to each other on those social networking sites.

Add booking information to your website.E mail address, phone numbers, etc.
