Tanning Salons:
What to Look For In a Tanning Salon
The recent trend toward busier schedules has left sun-seekers with little time to devote to their tans. To fill the gap, tanning salons have become increasingly popular over recent years. Many tanning salons use special lights to reproduce the effects of the suns rays, while others use cosmetic products to simulate a perfect tan. Whichever type you choose, tanning-salons provide an economical and fast way to give you that sun-kissed look.
Things to look for are:
1.Cleanliness * Take a visit to the tannning salons in your area and explain to them that you are thinking of becoming a user. Common practice usually results in a small tour showing the facilities they offer. This is the perfect opportunity to give the tanning beds, floors and bathrooms the once over.
2.Staff Members * The only way you are going to be able to evaluate the experience of the staff is by speaking to them. Above all employees should be attentive to you needs (especially considering the amount you are paying!) They should be able to confidently and expertly explain the tanning process, how the equipment works, why eye protection is required and what lotions will work best with the equipment.
3.Tanning Equipment * Since we are mainly concerned with the tanning element of salons you need to evaluate the equipment used. The vertical chambers are much stronger than the horizontal lay-down units and will produce an all-around tan while eliminating pressure points on your underside.
The equipment is evaluated at two levels: the type of bulbs being used and the number of bulbs installed. Increasing the number of bulbs will decrease the tan time needed. However, t here is a point of diminishing returns - the results achieved using a 48 bulb unit compared to a 52 bulb unit are minuscule. The quality of the bulbs used also affects the quality of the resulting tan - lower levels of UVB reduce the risk of burning. By and large, bulbs range from 1% UVB - 9% UVB.
Florists: A few months before the wedding, start researching your florist options. Get referrals from friends and family members who have recently been married or look online such as Angie's List.Approximately four months before the wedding, you will want to have booked your florist.
Ask to see photos of their most recent weddings. This will help you determine if your styles will mesh. You may want to have a contemporary wedding, complete with exotic flower arrangements in modern designs. If you peruse a florist’s portfolio and only see red roses for every arrangement and bouquet, you can be pretty sure that he/she is a bit more traditional than you are looking for. When you are looking through the portfolio, what you want to see is variety or whether or not a florist is willing to try different designs using different types of flowers.

Manicures / Pedicures: The manicure process:
As you are led to a manicurist's station, take a look around her table quickly. Is there some type of disinfection liquid for her tools available? Does she use fresh clean towel? Is her area free of dust? Your manicurist can break or bond you to the spa depending on your first experience. The manicure simply involves: soaking your hands in warm water, cutting down your nail if that is what you want, pushing cuticle upward, trimming your cuticle, filing, shaping, buffing, and massaging. After the massage, your manicurist will apply a layer of base coat, following two coats of polish color, and finally she will cover your nails with a top coat. If this process is done right and you are cautious when using your hands, then your nails can last up to ten days. Many of my clients' nails survive up to two weeks.
The pedicure process:
Most people love to have pedicure, because it relaxes them. Your feet soak in the bowl while your back gets a gentle massage from the pedicure chair. The manicurist will work on one foot at a time. The process is the same for manicure. Your nails will be cut, file, shape, buff, trimming of cuticle and massage. With feet though, you may experience some tickling when your manicurist using the pumice stone to soften the bottom of your foot. Keep in mind that you can refuse the use of razor blade. It is illegal in many states to remove calluses by shaving them off with a blade. It is also dangerous and stimulates your calluses to grow quicker. Lastly, she will perform the massage from your calf down, and finally she will paint your toes nails in the color polish of your choice.
