The year was 1967 and a new band had burst on the scene. Unlike anything before them The Doors took music in a new direction. When everyone was experiencing the “summer of love”, The Doors lead singer, Jim Morrison, was writing darker lyrics, like “The End” featuring the infamous “he walked on down the hall”.
Even the Robby Krieger penned, “Light My Fire” had Jim’s influence with “and our love become a funeral pyre”.
The musical line-up was also unconventional with Ray Manzarek on Keyboards, Robby Krieger on guitar, and John Densmore on drums. They didn’t have bass player! This was a tremendous departure from the standard rock-n-roll lineup. Ray handled the bass on his keyboards, giving them a totally unique sound. With Ray’s blues background, Robbie’s flamenco training, John’s love of jazz, and Jim’s haunting lyrics, they combined to produce music that has stood the test of time for 40 years.
Now you can “Break on Through” and experience what thousands of fans did in the late sixties. “The Doors Experience” recreates the sound, atmosphere and feel of a live Doors concert, faithfully recreating songs from all of The Doors studio and live albums.
